The world’s largest salt flat, Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni, is a pristine, otherworldly expanse of white. For generations, the only signs of life have been the “saleros” who harvest salt from its radiant surface.
This remote region is thrust into the future when Bolivia’s leaders embark on a plan to extract a precious mineral found beneath the salt crust, and to build an infrastructure connecting the Salar to the outside world.
Salero, a nonfiction feature film, is a poetic journey through the eyes of Moises, one of the last remaining salt gatherers. Set at the dawn of the modern age in one of the most secluded places on earth, Moises’ story explores how identity is formed by both tradition and progress.
"A breathtaking and briskly paced documentary. Using its beautiful landscape as a backdrop for an almost Malickian style documentary, director Mike Plunkett makes his feature directorial debut with one of the year’s truly genuine surprises."

Welcome to Crimetown, a new series from Gimlet Media and the creators of HBO’s The Jinx. Every season, we’ll investigate the culture of crime in a different American city. First up: Providence, Rhode Island, where organized crime and corruption infected every aspect of public life. This is a story of alliances and betrayals, of heists and stings, of crooked cops and honest mobsters—a story where it’s hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys.

So the Wind Won't Blow It All Away reveals how the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina continues to have impact on the lives of its victims — and how entire families are among the casualties. The film tells the story of a determined group of teenagers who, more than two years after Hurricane Katrina devastated their homes and scattered their families, return to New Orleans alone and struggle to graduate from high school with their more fortunate friends.
The film is a touching and shocking exposé of the abandoned children of Louisiana, but it is also a bracing portrait of teens who won’t be defeated by their abandonment.
So the Wind Won't Blow It All Away was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival, and was part of the PBS POV lineup.
